Cut to the chase. Take me to the Momsense. Last week, Shawna and I had the opportunity to speak to a wonderful group of moms who are part of the Avon MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) organization. At the meeting, we enjoyed a lively discussion about our favorite topic: places to go and things to do with little ones. One […]

Rocky Hill Library
Cut to the chase. Take me to the Momsense. Libraries really are a frugal mom’s (and dad’s!) best friends. You can check out a childhood worth of bedtime stories. You can find classes and storytimes for both babies and big kids. You can visit play areas stocked with toys, books, and computers. All for the […]
Wordless Wednesday: Together Time
We have been keeping a pretty busy schedule this fall and one of the activities Bruiser and Sparkles have really enjoyed is a program they are taking called Together Time. The program runs at our local preschool in West Hartford, The School for Young Children, and is held every Tuesday from 9:30 – 11:00 am.

Learn and Play: Kids’ Classes at the Lutz Children’s Museum
Cut to the chase. Take me to the Momsense. We love the Lutz Children’s Museum. It’s more proof that good things come in small packages. This pint-sized museum is full of fun activities for children, from a pretend (and miniaturized) Main Street to a puppet theater to a room filled with amazing animals (read Mandy’s […]
Simsbury Library
Cut to the chase. Take me to the Momsense. I’m usually a somewhat organized person. I put together a schedule for our family early in the month and make sure that I include an outing each week that is new and, hopefully, something I can post about. Sometimes, though, the best laid plans just don’t work […]
Feathers, Scales, and Things with Tails at the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center
Cut to the chase. Take me to the Momsense. I always find January to be such a dreary time of year. All the sparkly holiday decorations are packed away making mantels and landscapes alike look heartbreakingly bare. There’s often a coat of crusty snow–or more likely ice–covering the ground, sometimes making it difficult to do […]
