Wordless Wednesday: Family Photo Shoot

Right before Boo turned one, we had a professional family photo shoot to commemorate the occasion. I loved all the pictures, and I plastered them all over my house, not to mention holiday cards, holiday gifts, calendars, etc.

Last year when Boo was turning two, I never quite got my act together to get us new professional pics. It can be a lot of work to coordinate–all that scheduling, location selecting, outfit coordinating, praying for good weather, not to mention the flurry of preparation on the actual picture day. There really is a lot of effort that goes into a successful professional photo shoot. So I just kind of got lazy and let the year slip away.

Of course, when it came time for holiday cards, I was so disappointed in our current stash of family photos. Most were either just Boo and me, or just Boo and hubby (because how often can you get a great impromptu family photo, right?), or just Boo. Tons and tons of action shots of Boo, most of which were adorable but didn’t make much sense in a frame or on a card (Boo eating chocolate pudding and getting more on his face than in his mouth, for example).

So this year, I decided that we’d make the extra effort to have some professional pics done while we were still a family of three. One last opportunity to capture this stage in our lives before we welcome our new addition later this summer.

Fortunately, we know a wonderful photographer, Kathryn Deane, who worked with us last year to update all the photography in our site design. So I got in touch with Kathryn to set up a spring photo shoot. (BTW-if you haven’t read about our rollicking OAAM photo shoot with Kathryn last June, you can do so here.)

Professional photos are definitely an investment, but I’m so glad that I took the time and made the effort to have some new family pictures taken this year. As always, Kathryn was wonderful to work with, and she made the whole process as stress-free as possible. So here are some of the fruits of our collective labor. I think it’s about time to plaster my house with a whole new set of pictures 🙂
