This past weekend we made our annual trip to Noank and Mystic for our summer favorites: lobster rolls, draw bridges and ice cream. I really can’t believe it is August and we are just now making this trip. I guess it’s just been a busy summer!
In case you are looking for a road trip idea for this coming weekend, let me share with you our agenda for the day. Feel free to leverage as needed 🙂
First stop: Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough (Noanke, CT) – We checked out the beautiful water views and enjoyed lobster rolls and corn on the cob at one of our favorite shoreline destinations. The restaurant opens at noon, but when we arrived at 11:30 there were already people waiting in line.
Next Stop: We headed one town over to Mystic, CT and parked near the River Park Playground. The kids played for a while and then it was just a short walk to the downtown area where we could check out some more great views and take a walk over the draw bridge.
Last Stop: Ice cream at the Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream Shop. Cute shop, delicious ice cream and I just learned that they have these teeny tiny mini ice cream cones which were perfect for a pair of two year olds.
Even after wiping the twins down from head to toe with wet wipes, they still looked like they were completely covered in ice cream. My husband and I just kept cracking up as we watched people trying to avoid them as they headed back over the bridge towards our car. I guess my recommendation would be, just make sure you make the ice cream your last stop 🙂
