Wordless Wednesday: Sunday Brunch at the Oliver Wight Tavern

Post Update:  The tavern currently offers the FREE meal option only for kids ages 3 and under; however, kids ages 12 and under are $5.95 each.

Cut to the chase. Take me to the Momsense.

Happy Wednesday OAAM readers.

Man it was hot today!

Did you get a chance to read my post about our trip to the Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Massachusetts?  If you did, then you know it ended on a cliff hanger. Right? Well, not really. The latest Breaking Bad episode ended on a cliff hanger (you all are watching, right?). My post ended on a to be continued . . .

As I mentioned at the end, we finished off our morning at the Old Sturbridge Village with a buffet brunch at the Oliver Wight Tavern located right on the property.  We know how much our readers like Sunday Brunch (as evidenced by the popularity of this post and this post) so I wanted to share a few pictures (and some additional details) of my experience.

So, without further ado, let me give you a visual tour of Sunday Brunch at the Oliver Wight Tavern at Sturbridge Village.

(P.S. – Please pardon my picture quality. It is a bit of a challenge to eat a meal with two 2 1/2 year olds and a 1-year-old. Yikes!)

As the sign says, Sunday Brunch is from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  Reservations are recommended and can be made online.  The brunch is buffet style and costs $19.95 per person, but kids 10 and under eat for FREE (at least they did at the time of writing this post 🙂

Here’s the dining room.  Tons of seating. Plenty of high chairs available for the little ones. These days we usually try to get the twins to sit in regular chairs, but the unlimited availability of food right next to us was just too much for them to handle (they just wanted to run in and grab more and more).  So we put them in high chairs and let Sweetheart sit in her stroller (three high chairs at one table seemed a little over the top to me, so Sweetheart took one for the team).

The buffet consisted of a variety of food offerings: a salad bar, fruit bar, dessert bar, waffle bar, carving station, omelets made to order, eggs, bacon, sausage, baked goods, etc. The restaurant was very family-friendly.  High chairs, cups with lids, a changing station in the restroom, very calm and accommodating wait staff (a key feature 🙂

Bruiser was amazed that he could keep asking for food and we would bring him more. This kid can eat a lot!  I think he ate his weight in waffles covered with strawberries and whip cream and Sparkles ate her weight in fruit!

The brunch was as relaxing as any meal with three little ones could be.  The kids had a great time trying out all the food offerings and we got a chance to enjoy a yummy brunch that we didn’t have to clean up!  I call that a major win.  Plus, the combination of the Old Sturbridge Village Tour and a full tummy had all three kids out cold as soon as they were strapped in their car seats. That made for an easy ride home.
