Hippity Hoppity Easter’s on its Way – 2014 Edition

Easter Banner

I know it is supposed to snow tonight, but I promise you that Spring has already arrived and Easter will be here in just a few weeks (April 20th).

Though I will miss spending Easter with my family this year, I’m excited that we will be spending the holiday in Connecticut and I will finally have a chance to check out some local Easter events.  Since I was already doing research on things to do with my kiddos, I figured I might as well put together my findings in a handy-dandy list to share with you!

So, check out my list below for some family friendly Easter-themed events happening all over the state in the next few weeks.

Oh and I’m sure this list is only scratching the surface of all the local happenings. So, if you know of a great Easter event, feel free to leave the details in the comment section below!

———————————————————————

April 5th and 8th, Newington:  One of our favorite grocery shopping venues, Stew Leonard’s, is having two Easter events this year at their Newington location.  On Saturday, April 5th they will be hosting a Bunny Breakfast complete with an Easter bunny photo op. Seatings are at 9:00 am and 10:00 am and pricing ranges from $7.99 – $9.99 per person.  Reservations are needed, so contact the store for more details.

Then on Tuesday, April 8th, their Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-Travaganza will be held from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm.  Children will be able to collect eggs from costumed characters throughout the store.  This event is FREE.

April 8th, Norwalk:  Stew Leonard’s Norwalk store will also be holding their own Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-Travaganza from 4:00 – 5:30 pm on Tuesday, April 8th.  This event is also FREE.

April 5th and 9th, Danbury:  Stew Leonard’s Danbury store will be hosting both the Bunny Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-Travaganza this year.  The Bunny Breakfast will be held on Saturday, April 5th with seatings at 9:00 am and 10:00 am.  Pricing ranges from $7.99 – $9.99 per person and reservations need to be made in advance at customer service. The Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-Travaganza will be held on Wednesday, April 9th from 4:00 – 5:00 pm.  Just like the other stores, this event is FREE.

April 12th, 13th, 18th & 19th, Danbury:  The Danbury Railway Museum is holding an Easter Bunny Train event.  Children will enjoy a ride on a vintage train, a meet and greet with the Easter Bunny and other fun activities.  The cost is $10 per person and children under the age of 2 are free.  Reservations can be made online.

Woodbury

April 12th, Woodbury:  Woodbury Parks and Recreation will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at Hollow Park.  The Easter Bunny arrives at 9:30 am and the hunt starts at 10:00 am sharp. There is no cost to participate but monetary and nonperishable food donations will be collected for the Woodbury Food Bank.

Lyman Orchards

April 12th, Middlefield:  If you want to celebrate Easter but don’t want all the candy, check out Lyman Orchards’ annual Easter Apple Hunt.  The event will be held on Saturday, April 12th and the first hunt for kids ages 1-3 starts at 10:30 am. There are two hunting events for the little ones and then events for kids ages 4-6 and 7-10.  Register online and get an Easter Apple Hunt t-shirt.  The cost is $5 per child.  (Plus you can check out our post on a Fall visit to Lyman Orchards for some details on this destination).

April 19th, Windsor:  One of my new favorite parks, Northwest Park, is holding their annual egg hunt event, “Who’s Egg Is It?” from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.  Join park staff on a short hike and search for eggs filled with treats and decorated eggs. Learn about birds and enjoy the outdoors at this beautiful location.  The cost is $3 – $5 per person and children ages 2 and under are free.

April 19th, Mystic:  Olde Mistick Village in Mystic, Connecticut will continue their Easter Egg Hunt tradition on Saturday, April, 19th.  Children ages two and younger will have a special opportunity to meet Mr. Bunny beginning at noon, while the Easter Egg Hunt will begin for the 3 year olds at the same time in the Apple Orchard.  Events for children ages 4-10 will follow.  The activity is divided by age group, so check their site for details.

Farmington Miniature Golf & Ice Cream Parlor

April 19th, Farmington:  Farmington Miniature Golf & Ice Cream Parlor is hosting their 17th Annual Easter Egg Hunt.  The event will take place from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm and benefit Our Companions Animal Sanctuary.  Kids can hunt for over 15,000 Easter Eggs filled with Chocolate and Prizes with your $1 donation.  Face painting, a bounce house, and other fun activities will be available.

April 19th, Stamford:   The Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s Heckscher Farm in Stamford, Connecticut is having their 10th Annual Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19th from 10:00 am – noon.  The event will be for children ages six and under and the cost is $5 per family plus gate admission ($10 adults, $5 children, and children ages 3 and under FREE).
