Adam’s Adventure Playground

Psssst! Have you checked out our 2017 Summer Bucket List yet? Don’t miss more than 50 of our favorite summertime outings!

2016 Post:

At the end of last summer, I got wind of a new playground being built in Tolland, CT called Adam’s Adventure. I then proceeded to shamelessly stalk their Facebook page for the past 10+ months just waiting for the day when the playground would be open for business 🙂

Well, that day finally came last month when Adam’s Adventure Playground officially opened on May 23rd!

Adam's Adventure Playground Feature

Like many of the wonderful playgrounds that we’ve visited, this one has its own story of love and inspiration. You can read more about Adam and his family here.

And also like many of the other playgrounds that we’ve been to, this one is designed to accommodate a wide range of ages and abilities. It is meant to be a playground for everyone.

The playground is located in the Cross Farms Recreation Complex in Tolland.

There is a large parking lot right next to the playground.

There is also a building nearby that houses restrooms (although they were locked on the Sunday morning we were there) and a nice covered picnic area (looks like there is also a concession stand there at times).

This playground has one of my very favorite playground features–it is FULLY FENCED-IN!

There is a sign posted with some rules to follow when using the playground. One to note is that no food or beverages are allowed in the playground. I don’t think anyone would bother you about bringing water bottles in for the kiddos, and I definitely saw some parents there with their travel coffee mugs. There isn’t really anyone enforcing this, but it’s probably best to respect this rule and try to keep snacks and other kids’ beverages in the picnic area. I imagine it helps to control litter and pests to keep the food clear of the playground, and a clean playground is better for everyone, right? 🙂

This playground has tons of unique features, including a playscape that is fully connected, but that starts out on the smaller side and gradually gets bigger so it accommodates little and big kids on the same structure. That is a pretty neat concept.

It also has many interesting and challenging structures to scale. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill playground design!

We weren’t totally sure what to do with this thing (it was kind of like a conveyer belt), but we improvised 🙂

There were also plenty of things to swing, spin and hang on.

And some other fun activities.

But I think the most popular element was this super tall tower and twisty tunnel slide.

The one little issue with this playground is that there weren’t any benches. Now, the benches may be on their way, who knows. The playground is only a few weeks old after all. But just be aware that there isn’t anywhere for parents to sit. We did see many grownups bring their own portable camping chairs (great idea!).

Another thing to note is that this playground is in full sun, so it will be a hot one on sunny summer days.

All in all, this playground was definitely worth the wait. It has so many unique features and offers a variety of activities for kids of all ages and abilities. And the fact that it’s fenced-in makes it a great spot if you have multiple kiddos to keep an eye on.

I hope you get a chance to check out Adam’s Adventure Playground with your family.

Hello! You state it is a playground for all kinds of kids yet I did not see you point out the ramps, etc. that make it accessible for wheel chairs and those with other disabilities. Any information on this?

Hi Patricia! Thank you for your comment. We include lots of pictures in our posts so that readers can find the specific information they are looking for as it relates to their child/family. And with playgrounds, most of the time the photos speak for themselves! I do apologize if it was not clear in the photos, but there is a ramp that would allow a wheel chair to navigate the playscape.
