We love visiting the annual Scarecrow Walk in Old Wethersfield each fall, so we were excited to find out that each May, for National Bike Month, Main Street in Old Wethersfield is once again festooned with artsy creations of a bicycle nature 🙂
Bicycles on Main in Old Wethersfield takes place each year from May 1st-31st.
The artfully decorated bicycles line both sides of this area of Main Street in historic Old Wethersfield.
Stroll by 60+ uniquely decorated bicycles designed by families, businesses, and community members There’s even a scavenger hunt to add in some extra fun 🙂
Convenient street parking is available, with additional parking available at the Keeney Center at 200 Main Street.
And since May is National Bike Month, how about a community bike ride as well?
Or if you’re looking for a solo or family ride, check out the recently opened Heritage Way Bike Path, an 8-mile scenic route around and through town. (The route is dirt, bluestone and on road so a
hybrid or gravel bike is recommended.)
As with the fall event, we love to pair this leisurely stroll with a visit to one of our favorite Old Wethersfield eateries. There’s Main Street Creamery, if ice cream is your craving. Heirloom Market offers delicious coffee and baked goods. Family-friendly Village Pizza always serves up a tasty pie. Or check out the Charles for a casual upscale dining experience.
